DCI Festival Each summer, numerous volunteers are needed to host the Lake Highlands Festival of Drums and Bugles (A.K.A. DCI). This event is absolutely one of the very best ways to get involved, meet parents, work with the kids, & see an incredible show! DCI is the band’s largest fundraiser and its tremendous success is due in large part to the dedication of our band parents. Opportunities are available to chair or co-chair a committee, or to work in one of the many areas the day of the show. Committees begin forming in January, so be on the lookout for information at that time.
Mums It is a little known fact that the band's second largest fundraiser is the sale of mums for Homecoming. This money is an important revenue source for the band budget. We make around 600 mums each year. We could sure use your help beginning in the summer! There are lots of opportunities to help make, sort, and move the mums. Varsity Revue This America’s-Got-Talent occasion showcases acts led by students throughout the entire student body as well as teacher sponsored groups like Cheerleaders, Highlandettes, and Wranglers. In addition to its outstanding substance, it serves as a band fundraiser that, if handled well, can bring in a healthy sum of revenue, benefitting every student in the band program. The shows are September 30th and October 2nd.
If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Mark Lara or Glen Stone as soon as you can. Varsity Review will be here and gone before we know it. In fact, it is a full three weeks earlier than last year!
This show really is a huge highlight for the entire school during a festive homecoming week and we have the opportunity to make the band and jazz program shine brightly from a different angle.
